Yes you can but it will make that regular Maxisys 908 into MS908P and there is no going back , and the cost of purchasing a year of updates for it will cost $1200 instead of $900.
No use Buying the J2534 and pairing it to a regular maxi sys that is out of free update period or close to expiration of free updates, because it will not add any more update subscription time or allow you to access  programming files for BMW, Mercedes , and VW after free update period expires (which are the only makes that you can do programming off the tablet anyway, and only can during your update subscription before it ends.)
